I haven't played a game that was made with so much care and attention as this one in a very long time. This game has it all, it's like a Nintendo fan's wet dream. Remember that first water level with the piano music and how amazed we were? The same thing happened to me in Galaxy 2, beautiful water level which was side scrolling with amazingly pretty piano music that fitted perfectly. There's a level in World 2 that reminded me of Donkey Kong Country 1 on SNES. Yoshi is a god in this too, you will love him. The reasons why you die in this game are clear and make sense, I haven't had a "cheap, that wasn't fair" death yet. I've died yes, but it was either because I fell off the side due to a poorly timed jump or just not knowing the level or what was coming up. Yes the other path is harder but very satisfying when you beat it. I've just done both ways when this happens ( like most people will).

The game gives you a sort of option to go the harder path when you unlock multiple ways to get to the same destination. The difficulty is perfect also, nothing is too hard but not too easy either. I've only had to adjust the camera a couple times so far I think the camera in a 3D game is probably the hardest thing to develop in a game like this and they did a really good job. You go from 2D to 3D seamlessly and the camera hasn't been a problem at all yet. The flow of the game is very smooth and natural also. Not only that but the game itself is just loads better and you will see why when you play it for a while. This seems like a small thing but it's big issue for me. In Galaxy 2, the maps work like Super Mario World so you can see everything you need just by flying over the level and not having to search for it. You forgot easily because just finding those worlds were not so smooth. If you didn't play the game for a couple days you lost track of what stars you were missing and in what world. One of the issues I had with Galaxy 1 was that the hub world was convoluted. I figured out why this game feels so much better to me than Galaxy 1. In the next version and on all subsequent versions of my apps, I'm just going to have dx8vb.dll auto-install.Yes indeed it is, but you want to know why? Read on.

These "lite" versions aren't worth the trouble as you have to install a million dlls just to get things ready for our hobby.

Understand though when I say "windows version X" I mean the FULL versions. An install on win 7 and win 8 should be similar. I didn't have to install any codecs or the vb runtimes or any of that junk. So to summarize, all I had to do to get it running on win 10 (upgraded from 7) was to install and register dx8vb.dll. I then removed the wmp stuff I copied off and things still worked fine. THEN I installed dx8vb.dll properly via copying it to the syswow64 folder and running regsvr32.exe on it and it worked. I then copied over dx8vb.dll and still got the error. I copied over wmp.dll and wmp.oca and I still got the error. I first just copied the program over and I got a "can't register active x" error which made me think it needed windows media player.

So for a cabinet setup, you don't need to exit out of the FE, just tap the power button on your pc to invoke a shutdown. By that I mean it knows when windows is trying to shut down. My FE, much like my older FE's is status aware. One thing not mentioned in the readme that people might want to know.

just a waving flag animation I found on the net. Honestly the intro is nothing special though.

If you still don't then you need a mp4 codec. Make sure your resolution is correctly set in the settings.txt and you should see. There is a "mamedriving.txt" included in the gamelists folder that includes every single mame driving game, but I didn't use it as the official list because I didn't get a chance to filter off clones and joystick/dial games as well as non-working, ect.Īs mentioned in the readme.txt the intro vid is doing strange things depending upon your resolution. I just went by badmouth's list when I was making images.
